Hi, I’m Delandt Prinsloo, an 18-year-old with a passion for coffee and community. Originally from South Africa, my family and I moved to Australia in search of better opportunities, a safer environment, and a brighter future. Australia offered the promise of better education and endless possibilities, and I've been determined to make the most of it ever since.

Midway through Year 12, I started a job at a local café where I learned how to make coffee on the job. This hands-on experience sparked my love for crafting the perfect cup and connecting with people through coffee. I’ve always been outgoing, never shy to meet new people, and I find it inspiring to hear everyone’s stories. It’s incredible how different our journeys are, and yet how something as simple as a coffee can bring us all together.

One evening, after a long day at school, I was brainstorming with my parents—something I often do, as I’m always looking to learn new skills and discover what’s next. We threw around all kinds of ideas, but it was during a break in our discussion when everything clicked. My parents both asked, "Who wants coffee?" and in that moment, the idea for The Coffee Enthusiast was born.

Setting up this business has been an exciting journey. I had the privilege of meeting with my coffee suppliers, The Roasting Warehouse, a proud family-owned business. During our conversation, one of the owners asked me why I wanted to start this venture. My response was simple: I love people, I love creating a sense of community, and I love making people smile. Everyone has their good days and their bad days, but if I can serve someone a top-quality coffee with a smile and a friendly chat, I hope to make their day a little brighter.

For me, coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a way to connect, uplift, and bring people together. What better place to do that than Melbourne, where coffee is at the heart of the city?
